5 Prompt Habits That Sharpen Your AI Video Clips

Small, specific prompt choices decide whether your AI video looks intentional or accidental.

Lead with the shot, not just the subject. Instead of "a woman walking," write "medium tracking shot, woman walking left to right, shallow depth of field, 35mm lens." Camera language (dolly, pan, static, handheld) tells the model how the frame should move, which is what separates video prompts from image prompts.

Control motion and pacing explicitly. Name the speed ("slow, deliberate steps"), the direction, and one clear action per clip — models blur when you stack three movements into five seconds. Add lighting and time of day ("golden hour, backlit, soft haze") so the mood stays consistent across generations instead of drifting shot to shot.

Iterate in small deltas. Change one variable at a time — lens, then motion, then light — and keep a short prompt log so you can reproduce a good take. In CinderHub you can branch a working prompt across several models at once, compare the outputs side by side, and lock in the version that reads cleanest before committing to a full storyboard.
