Cut AI Hallucinations: Ground Every Answer

Simple habits that stop AI models from inventing facts in your prompts.

Give the model source material instead of asking it to recall. Paste the document, spec, or data directly into your prompt and instruct it to answer only from that text. When facts live in the context window, the model quotes rather than guesses.

Ask for citations and uncertainty. Add a line like 'cite the exact sentence you used, and say I don't know if it's not there.' Models hallucinate most when forced to fill gaps, so give them explicit permission to admit ignorance instead of fabricating.

Verify with a second pass. On CinderHub, run the same question across two different models and compare — answers that diverge flag likely inventions. For anything factual, keep temperature low and always check numbers, names, and dates against the original source.
