Negative Prompts Explained

A negative prompt is a second list of words that tells an image or video model what to avoid, working alongside your main prompt. While the positive prompt pulls the output toward what you want, the negative prompt pushes it away from what you don't — think of it as steering with two hands instead of one.

Start with the usual suspects for photorealism: 'blurry, extra fingers, deformed hands, watermark, text, low quality, oversaturated'. For a specific fix, name the exact problem you keep seeing — if faces come out plastic, add 'plastic skin, waxy'; if compositions feel cluttered, add 'busy background, clutter'. Add terms one or two at a time so you can tell which one actually helped.
